Japanese brand reimagines classic footwear models

Observing local fashion weeks is always a bit more intriguing than the mainstream ones. They're less commercial, better reflecting the identities of the cities where they take place and offering attention-grabbing new designer solutions. Last week marked the Tokyo Fashion Week. Among the event's lineup was the return of the brand Mikio Sakabe, which had been absent for the past three years. Besides the grand show, we were intrigued by the footwear showcased by the Japanese brand Grounds (founded in 2018).

The designers at Grounds reimagined classic footwear models, creating Oxfords, loafers, and Mary Janes on hyperbolized bubble platforms. The footwear was presented in both white and black colors. Alongside them, sneakers with massive soles also made appearances on the runway. Share your thoughts in the comments about these models.
